Eligibility Criteria and Voting Rules and Procedures

 

Welcome to the British Online Creator Awards (BONCAs) Awards, celebrating the inspirational creativity, dedication and accomplishments of the UK’s best online entertainers

There are 14 awards to be won – 3 public awards and 11 awards to be shortlisted and voted on by a Jury of industry professionals.

  • Travel Video of the Year
  • Comedy Sketch of the Year
  • Series of the Year
  • Prank of the Year
  • Gamer of the Year
  • Food Video of the Year
  • Lifestyle Video of the Year
  • Newcomer 2016
  • Best use of Tech in a Video
  • Campaign video of the year
  • Best Film of the Year

 

The winners of all Awards will be announced at an Event at the London Palladium on Tuesday 22nd November 2016

 

Eligibility Criteria for All Awards

 

Content must have been uploaded to the channel or platform between 7th October 2015 to 6th October 2016.

All videos must have a minimum of 10,000 views.

Branded content will be permitted.

The majority of the creators’ content should be produced in the UK (with the exception of International Creator of the Year Award)

Two awards will have a minimum You Tube subscriber threshold on their primary channel as set out in the relevant Award Criteria below.

 

AWARD CRITERIA

Awards Voted by the Public

 

British Creator of the Year and International Creator of the Year

 

British Creator of the Year

Must have more than 600,000 YouTube subscribers

 

International Creator of the Year

Must have more than 3,000,000 YouTube Subscribers

Must use English as their main language

 

Collaboration of the Year

Collaboration must be with another online creator.

Collaboration with an International creator is permitted as long as the content sits on a channel or platform where the majority of the creator’s content has been produced in the UK.

Promotional interviews, for example press junkets will not qualify.

 

Awards shortlisted and voted on by a Jury of Industry Professionals

For all these awards the majority of the creators’ content must be produced in the UK

 

Travel Video of the Year

Video must contain substantial dialogue and pieces to camera.

 

Newcomer 2016

Must have uploaded their first produced content on or after Jan 1st 2015.

Must have significant growth to their audience.

 

Best Film of the Year

Duration from 15mins up to feature length.

Must have an online creator either starring and or producing.

Cannot be episodic.

 

Campaign Video of the Year

Should be able to demonstrate that the video has either raised money or heightened awareness for their chosen cause or charity.

 

Best Use of Tech

Must be produced by an online creator rather than a specific tech company.

To demonstrate the use of tech in an innovative way in order to produce a video.

 

 

 

VOTING PROCEDURE

You may cast your vote by voting on www.boncasawards.com

Voting will begin at 16:00 on Thursday 6th October 2016 and close at 12:00 on Friday 18th November 2016.

There are no charge for web entries although internet service provider’s fees may apply when accessing the internet.

You will need to register to vote, as indicated on the “VOTE NOW” section of BONCAs Awards website www.boncasawards.com

You are allowed one vote in each of the 3 public Awards.

If you try and vote a second time only your last vote will count.

Votes received outside the specified opening and closing times will not be counted.

Voting periods are subject to change and Flipside may suspend, withdraw or re-set voting periods at its sole discretion at any time and in such case will post any updates on www.boncasawards.com

Flipside reserves the right to discount votes if it has reasonable grounds to suspect that fraudulent voting has occurred (including certain bulk voting).

Winners will be announced at the event on Tuesday 22nd November at the London Palladium.

Winners will be determined by the total number of valid votes received during the voting period.

Flipside has no input in the outcome of the public votes. In the event any result cannot be determined because of a technical failure or other circumstance beyond Flipside’s control, then the decision on the winner will be at the discretion of The BONCAs Jury

 

Flipside, its sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies do not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any vote being lost or not properly registered or recorded.

 

Flipside cannot promise that The BONCAs Awards website will be free from errors or omissions nor that it will be available uninterrupted and in a fully operating condition. The systems and/or services may be suspended temporarily and without notice in the case of system failure, maintenance or repair or for reasons beyond Flipside’s control. Flipside will not be liable to any person in the event that all or any part of the systems and/or services are discontinued, modified or changed in any way.

Any personal data relating to voters will be used solely in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and in line with Flipside’s privacy policy, which can be found on www.boncasawards.com

The BONCAs’ jury comprises of 40 industry professionals including representatives from BBC Worldwide, Big Frame, CAA, CBBC, Cherry Pick Media, Comic Relief, Facebook, Flipside Talent, Gleam Futures, Internet Creators Guild, James Grant, Bleecker Street Management, MHA Talent Management, NVC, OP Talent, Revelmode, Sarah Weichel Management, Stand Up To Cancer, Studio 71, StyleHaul, Twitter, WME and YouTube.

 

For every award each Jury member will select their top five choices. The nominees who receive the most votes in each category by members of the Jury will be published as a shortlist on www.boncasawards.com on Saturday 29th October.

 

The voting period will be from Friday 14th October and will close on Monday 24th October at 18:00.

Winners will be announced at the event on Tuesday 22nd November at the London Palladium.

Winners will be determined by the total number of valid votes received during the voting period.
